Allied Grape Growers is governed by a seven member Board of Directors that is elected from four regions of the state, as defined by Allied's By-Laws. Representation on the Board is proportional to the regional membership allocation, which currently places two (2) representatives from the North Coast, two (2) from the Northern San Joaquin Valley, and three (3) from the Central Valley. In addition to the elected directors, the By-Laws allow for Director-at-Large positions on the Board.

Elected directors serve three-year terms. Director-at-Large positions are appointed by the Board and are for one year at a time. Within 90 days of expiration of an elected director's term, nominations for the upcoming open seat are made by members in their respective districts at the association's district meetings, or by mail prior to the district meetings. After nominations are closed at the district meetings, the nominated grower-members are voted upon by mail prior to the annual meeting in July, or by the casting of ballots at the annual meeting.
